About Us

Chamier’s Core

Where movement becomes mindful.

Located in the heart of Chamiers Road, our boutique Pilates studio offers a serene and minimalist space designed for deep connection — to body, breath, and self. We bring together classical and contemporary Pilates practices, using reformers, mats, and mindful props to create sessions that are both intelligent and intuitive.

At Chamier’s Core, every class is intentionally small, allowing for personal attention, calm energy, and meaningful progress. Our certified female instructors lead with care and precision, tailoring each session to your unique rhythm and needs.

This is more than just movement — it's a space to realign, reset, and rediscover your strength from within.

Meet the Founders

We’re sisters Shiv and Anu connected by our passion for mindful movement and a drive to build something meaningful together.

Having made our lives in New York, we watched the pilates movement transform the city over the last 15 years: growing from a niche practice into a celebrated part of the city’s wellness culture. Studios became more than workout spaces; they became places of community, empowerment, and connection. Inspired by that evolution, we dreamed of creating a space in Chennai that brings the same blend of thoughtful movement, refined design, and elevated experience. A space that goes beyond fitness and becomes a place of connection, empowerment, and community.

We’ve both meticulously obsessed over every tiny detail of this studio to ensure our mission comes alive in every inch of the space. For us, this isn’t just a business it’s a space built with purpose, shaped by intention, and driven by values we believe in deeply.

Together, we’re committed to bringing a slice of New York’s Pilates culture to Chennai: blending mindful movement, elevated design, and community. We believe in movement for every body, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our space.

Anu’s Story | Co-Founder

Chamiers Core began with Anu, who brought the spark that ignited this entire project.

“Already with a successful background in business leadership, I brings my experience and passion for creating community-focused spaces to Chamiers Core ensuring every aspect of the studio is handled with thought and care. On my business trips to Chennai, I noticed a gap in the city’s Pilates culture, a missing space where movement could be joyful, intentional, and elevated. What started as an idea to fill that gap quickly became a mission to share the transformative power of reformer pilates with a wider community. I approaches every idea, no matter how ambitious, with the belief that if it adds value it’s worth pursuing. My gift lies in bringing big ideas to life with heart, purpose, and a belief that the right space can change how people move, feel, and connect.

From the beginning, I envisioned a space that felt welcoming and elevated— far from the sterile, industrial feel of most gyms. Soft wood, muted tones, and thoughtful design choices were all intentional decisions to create a space that encourages people to feel grounded.

I’ve always believed that the right environment shapes the way we move and feel. For me, Chamiers Core wasn’t just about bringing Pilates to Chennai, it was about creating a space people feel drawn to. With my background in business, I knew exactly how to bring this vision to life: blending practical know-how with a strong sense of design and a clear focus on the experience we wanted to offer”

Shiv’s Story | Co-Founder

For Shiv, this journey began from a deeply personal place:

“Having struggled with an eating disorder that shaped a negative relationship with my body, I began to notice how unfortunately common this experience was among the women around me during recovery. Again and again, I found that conversations with women across all spaces, professions, and walks of life were quietly shaped by criticizing our bodies by default and seeing their body as perpetually under construction instead of instead of honoring what our bodies can do and nourishing them for the lives we want to lead.

Pilates became, in many ways, the living, breathing extension of everything I had learned in ED recovery. It invited me into a space where conscious breath work wasn’t just a grounding technique, but the anchor of every movement. Each inhale and exhale became a rhythmic dialogue between my mind and body that fortified utmost mindfulness. The mind-body connection that Pilates demands, the deep awareness of how each muscle fires, stabilizes, and supports drew me out of the critical chatter in my head and placed me firmly back in my body. The core engagement, the precision of every motion, the concentration it required all worked together to rebuild something I didn’t even know I had lost: a sense of belonging in my body.

Pilates shifted my perspective from seeing my body as a problem to solve to recognizing it as a life long companion I’m meant to nourish, care for, and support not just for today but for the lifetime ahead. Thus, Chamiers Core is a passion project born from my personal journey and a deep desire to share that sense of reconnection with others. I want everyone who steps into this space to experience that same shift: to move with intention, to reconnect with their body, and to leave feeling stronger, freer, and truly at home in themselves”

Meet the Instructors

Zainab

With over four years of hands-on experience as a strength coach, Zainab brings a deep understanding of movement, form, and functional training. Her background in strength coaching has given her a solid foundation in helping clients build resilience and confidence through structured, effective workouts.

However, years of coaching also showed her that traditional strength training isn’t always accessible to every body: particularly for those recovering from injury, dealing with chronic pain, or new to fitness. That insight led her to Pilates, a method she values for its inclusive approach and powerful impact on the body. She believes Pilates bridges the gap between strength, mobility, and mindfulness, creating lasting improvements in posture, core stability, and overall movement quality.

Beyond technique, Zainab’s approach centers on helping clients feel more connected to their bodies: to move mindfully, with awareness and intention. Her sessions are designed to foster confidence, encourage presence, and empower clients to trust their bodies. While her expertise equips her to guide with precision, she believes the most meaningful growth comes when clients make their own discoveries — a process she encourages every step of the way.

Book a session with Zainab to experience mindful, strength-focused movement that builds confidence, deepens body awareness, and empowers you from the inside out.
